Tips to Reduce Stress Symptoms During Pregnancy

1. Don’t be afraid to say no

When you’re used to running around keeping on top of everything all the time, it can be a challenge to sit back and relax.

Our busy modern lives demand a lot and it’s easy to say yes to everything and start to feel burnt out. You know that during your pregnancy everything else can’t just stop, but throughout this time it’s more important than ever to listen to your body.

Keeping on top of work, your social life and general life demands are important, but rest is essential during pregnancy to keep both you and the baby relaxed. 2. Eat well and keep moving

During your pregnancy, it’s likely that you will experience hormonal imbalances at one stage or another, and as a result, you may experience mild anxiety while pregnant.

Exercising regularly can provide an outlet for any built up hormones, and also helps make you feel more positive and energetic in general. It’s perfectly safe to exercise during pregnancy, but it is recommended to avoid exercising any more than you did pre-pregnancy (don’t try and run a 10k if you’re not used to running). Try swimming or pregnancy yoga, and get out into the fresh air for a walk when you can.

In addition, eating well will help keep your blood sugars balanced, as well as providing all of the necessary nutrients to the growing baby. Try to eat at last five portions of fruit and veg a day and ensure you are getting plenty of omega-3 found in oily fish and protein and unsaturated fats found in nuts.


3. Prepare for your new arrival

The best way to feel like you’re in control and calm is to prepare for the new journey ahead. If you leave this to the last minute you will cause yourself unnecessary stress and worry, especially if you are worried about the baby arriving a week or two early! When you’ve got the time start preparing everything you need, from clothes and bottles to the nursery and the baby name.   1. Saying no is indeed an art which every pregnant lady should learn. No doubt, a woman has other responsibilities but nothing is more important than the health of mother and child.

  2. Eating well and moving is the key to managing this whole pregnancy period. Sitting idol can cause swelling on feet and hands which can be very difficult to handle.

  3. I found that when I started saying no to things like friends’ birthday meals and a hen do, I felt a lot more relaxed during the last trimester of my pregnancy as I didn’t have all these commitments hanging over me. Make room for those afternoon naps!
